In-School Workshop
Educators and Professional
Liability
A proactive review of legal liability for educators.
Many legal questions
from educators center around the topic of liability. The obligation or
responsibility of educators is determined through a
combination of legislation, regulation, common law and school board policy
or by-laws. Where educators have not met their responsibilities properly,
and when that action has resulted specifically in injury to a student,
the question of liability is always a concern. The material that follows
entails a basic review of tort liability theory and law. We will use
actual cases and state statutes for emphasis and review. There is a heavy
emphasis in this presentation on theory to practice, ”practical
